This is day 109 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. Still hoping that you are all staying safe and wearing your masks. My goal each week during the pandemic is to give you a few smiles. Nothing makes me smile more than otters. They are active, fun and most of all – adorable. This week’s selection of photos come from my previous visits to the Prospect Park Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Potawatomi Zoo, Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Capron Park Zoo and the Woodland Park zoo. The animals featured are river otters and small-clawed otters. Hope they give you a little cheer. Stay healthy please.

When CPZ had otters I so so enjoyed watching them – they are fun and as your pics show – so adorable! Did you happen to hear why an otter wanted to work at NASA? So she could go to Otter Space! 🙂

Thank you for the otter photos! I so enjoyed the river otters that we had at the Central Park Zoo. I thought of them as the ultimate party animals — always out to have a good time! Didn’t you also have a photo of two otters swimming on their backs and holding hands?

I think you are remembering the sea otters and that was not my photo.

they are beautiful, marvelous creatures. A river otter came to our small lake in the Swan Valley, Western Montana for a few weeks one summer. It would “play” with my dog, swimming off the end of the dock lifting partly out of the water so its front paws showed, then diving when Shamus jumped in after it. When he got back on the dock, the otter would pop up again. One day when I was out fishing the otter came to the boat and again Shamus jumped in after it and they played tag. Very thrilling experiences.
