I have been taking photos of gorgeous sunrises and sunsets from my apartment for the last 29 years. They never cease to amaze and inspire me. The skyline has changed (not for the better) but the light still comes dazzling through. My friend Robyn introduced me to the term ‘Alpenglow’ after I posted one of my photos on Instagram. Now I adore the word and look for those very special days when it happens. Alpenglow is a natural optical phenomenon often appearing as a reddish, rosy, or pinkish glow just before sunrise or sunset. It occurs when the sun is below the horizon and its light reflects off airborne particles, ice crystals, or clouds in the atmosphere, rather than directly illuminating the structures. I hope there is an Alpenglow in your future soon.
Gorgeous!

Gorgeous … but who put in the building between you and the Empire State Bldg? (worse : who allowed it!!!)

I blame all of NYC’s bad buildings on Bloomberg. He essentially got rid of zoning. It is a shame.
