We got to spend back to back weekends with amazing dogs who I am sure all go to heaven. Two week ago we got to see the 150th Westminster Dog Show and last week we went to Meet the Breeds sponsored by the AKC. Meet the Breeds is more low key than Westminster. You can pet the dogs, speak with the breeders, ask questions and generally have a fun time. It gets very crowded and is filled with lots and lots of children, strollers and noise. That said – we enjoyed ourselves immensely and surely will return next year. Woof!

We attended the 150th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show last Monday. We got to see the Hound, Toy, Non-sporting and Herding groups. As far as I was concerned they were all Best in Show. If you have never been to one of these events I encourage you to go. It is a feast for the eyes. Not only are the dogs sensational but the handlers were a sight to behold as well. Their outfits complete with sequins and sparkles are so much fun. Their dedication is a marvel. They are also eager to engage you in conversation about how they got there, what it takes to spend the entire day there and of course their opinions about NYC are both outrageous and funny. We had a ball.

Last year’s Meet the Breeds at the Javitts Convention Center was a lot of fun. So why not go again I said to myself? I guess the word got out that it was a fun event. Well…it was crowded, loud and unruly this year. That said, I did enjoy myself but by the time I left it was hard to see the dogs because of the enormous number of humans, baby carriages and unattended children. Before it got overly crowded I was able to appreciate the dogs and their quirky and delightful handlers. I have included just some of the 125 breeds in today’s montage. Woof!

Nothing but fun and smiles at yesterday’s AKC Meet the Breeds at the Javitts Center. I have not been to a dog show in many moons and forgot how much fun they are. Not only are the dogs terrific but the handlers are quirky and delightful to chat with about each and every doggie. I have included just some of the many breeds in today’s montage and of course have included my little bundle of fun, Mr Pepe, at the end of this photo montage. Woof!
