6389This Lunar New Year celebrates the Rooster. A year of the Rooster always comes after a Year of the Monkey  and before Year of the Dog. If you were born in any of the following years, you are included in the Year of the Rooster – 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993 and 2005. I searched my archives and came up short on my rooster photos so I decided to stretch the theme a bit. The rooster is part of the group called Galliformes. ‘The Galliformes are an order of heavy-bodied ground-feeding birds that includes turkey, grouse, chicken, New World quail and Old World quail, ptarmigan, partridge, pheasant, junglefowl and the Cracidae. The name derives from “gallus”, Latin for “cock” or “rooster”. Enjoy this Lunar New Year and these amazing birds who are part of this group. Cock-a-doodle-doo!rooster

Gorgeous. Who is the intense, handsome dude in the middle (horizontal pic, orange red chest with bluish dots?) All healed and as good as new?

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I have a Grandroo (as in Grandchild, Granddog) named Elvis who lives in Austin, Texas, and he is a fierce protector of his coop of about nine chickens. He scares the hell out of me whenever I try to feed the brood or try to gather the eggs. He sure is magnificent looking though!
