Yesterday was Penguin Awareness Day. It is celebrated to help raise awareness about the dwindling numbers of these beautiful black and white creatures, primarily due to human activity and climate change around the globe. It hopes to shine a light on the importance of the conservation of penguin habitats. I was lucky to take the trip of a lifetime 19 years ago to Antarctica, the Falklands and South Georgia. I selected some those photos to share with you today. I hope they bring a smile to your face.
Sooooooo coooooop!!

Penguins are amazing creatures. I guess I shouldn’t complain about a short stretch of cold weather. You always bring us a Sunday smile.

I remember that wonderful slide presentation you gave at the zoo after the trip. The photos were categorized by the alphabet. You said you racked your brain for a category that began with D. Everyone cracked up when you said you finally settled on “Dead things” and proceeded with a photo or two of carcasses. Ah, the circle of life.
Thanks as always for a fun start to my Sunday morning.

So nice to hear from you Gloria. I am happy you remembered my slide show and my ‘dead things’ slides. I think for the letter Q I had a photo of Queen Elizabeth and Freddie Mercury. LOL

I’ll never forget our visit to your penguins’ cousins on Magdalena Island. Super friendly and hospitable, and complementary of their southern relatives you visited.
