The View from Casa Lobo November 3, 2012

It was a very rough week for those who suffered through Hurricane Sandy.  I am only now beginning to see the devastation on TV after emerging from four days without power at Casa Lobo.  The above photo of Benny and me was taken by our doorman before the more difficult days that were to come. Each day got more difficult and I apologize to those that crossed my path as my mood became darker and edgier – and I lost my sense of humor somewhere along the way.  Probably during one of those wretched climbs up 11 flights of stairs with Benny the dog.  In Benny’s defense – he was a trooper and Madison the cat just continued to do her thing (as cats do).  I took some photos along the way and thought I would share them with you.

Here is a link that depicts some great shots from more daring photographers who roamed the City during this past week. The very popular HighLine suffered as well. Closer to my heart, the he NY Aquarium got hit very hard.  Here is a link for photos and if you are inclined to help there are instructions on the NY Aquarium link.

I hope all of you out there are warm dry and safe from harm.

Judy- Hello. We still don’t have power in my building. The river flooded our basement and took out the electrical system. Unofficial word is another 5 to 10 days for a temporary set up to be in place. Official word is nonexistent. Visiting neighbors on the block to warm up and power cell phones. Have considered going to the Catskills but the water there is shut off. Also power is out there too -/ scheduled for restoration by midnight on Sunday. We’ll probably go up there Mon with Charlie and the cats to see which is worse -/ coping without electricity or without water. Can’t wait for this to be over!

So sorry Judy. Hope you didn’t have too much of a mess! But how great that we’re all so resilient!! See you soon. My trip to India delayed, will leave tomorrow. Eileen

Judy:
Thank you for letting your friends know how you dealt with the challenging tasks of dealing with Sandy. Thank you also for the links to the stunning photos. When we were in New York, we did take a walk in Highline Park, a worthy example of urban renewal. We did donate to the recovery of the NY Aquarium.

Did Bennie’s shape change during the days without?

Thanks for attaching the Hi-Line and Aquarium pictures.
