The eighth and final stop on our Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas zoocation was the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center in Glen Rose Texas. A big shout out to Executive Director Kelley Snodgrass for welcoming us and giving us a thorough tour through this vast wildlife center. He regaled us with stories and history which made our visit that much more enjoyable. The center has 1800 acres with over 1100 animals. They are using the facility to breed and rehabilitate certain species, have a hugely successful cheetah breeding program and are involved in preserving the endangered Atwater chicken. We were fortunate to see their very young rhino up close and personal.
These past eight weeks you have joined me on our zoocation. My zoocation buddy, Mary Schwalm informs me that we drove 1287 miles, hit three states (eight zoos in seven days) and experienced nary a glitch. Other than lots of wind and a few very hot days we had no tornadoes and no rain. Looking forward to our next adventure.

Hi Judy & Mary,
As usual great pics. Do you two have a record for number of zoos?

I don’t have an exact count (Mary is better at record keeping than I am) but I imagine it is close to 125 zoos

That baby rhino is simply spectacular. Did they really name him Blake? Excellent photos…

“Fossil Rim Wildlife Center” … who knew! While there, did you go to the magnificent art museums in Fort Worth (Tadao Ando’s MoMA?).
This trip is over, where to next? Fabulous photos as always!
