The third Sunday in February (tomorrow) means it is another of Central Park Zoo’s Early Birds’ Photo Safari mornings. The last two Sunday morning adventures have been a lot of fun.  Come on over and join me.  If not this Sunday – why not next Sunday, which will be the last in this winter series. The montage below shows you just a small portion of the Zoo’s terrific collection. Don’t forget to enjoy a delightful video of a little dancing goat below today’s montage.

Happy Valentine’s Day (a day early).  Woo at the Zoo is a common theme this year. Lots of snuggling, kanoodling and nesting going on all over the animal world.  See if you can spot two in the animal kingdom who live at Casa Lobo amongst the other furry and feathery faces.  Yes, it is not hard to spot both Madison the cat and Benny the dog.

And don’t forget – today is the second of four early opening hour Sundays for photographers at the Central Park Zoo. Get your tickets at 9 AM at the gate and enjoy the Zoo an hour before opening to capture the beauty of the Zoo’s collection. I’ll be there.
Watch the funny animals in love video below today’s montage.

It is lovely weather for ducks. Especially the sea ducks that can be found at the Central Park Tisch Children’s Zoo. A glorious display of Harlequins, Chinese Mergansers, White-winged scoters, Baikal teals, Pacific Common Eiders, White-headed, Lesser Scaups, and my favorite, the smew.  Check them all out below in this week’s continuing winter montage series.  Don’t forget – today starts the first of four early opening hour Sundays for photographers at the Central Park Zoo.  Get your tickets at 9 AM at the gate and enjoy the Zoo an hour before opening to capture the beauty of the Zoo’s collection. I’ll be there.
Check out the eider duck feeding frenzy video I found on youtube below.

Yes, more snow fell on the already snow covered Big Apple but at the Central Park Zoo it just gets more fun for the residents (and me).  I never tire of watching our cold weather loving animals romping in the snow. Enjoy this week’s photo montage and don’t forget to watch the delightful time lapse video below by my good friend and my frequent road trip zoo nut, Mary Schwalm .

The Central Park Zoo will open an hour early at 9AM on all four Sundays in February for photographers to have a unique, up-close experience with the Zoo’s collection. Shooting at the zoo is exciting. In one location you will get to see a collection of animals from around the world. Take your time, plan your shots and enjoy the Central Park Zoo animals before the doors open to the public.

In addition to the early entry to the zoo, participants will enjoy an exclusive close-up photo session with one of the animals in the collection.

Photographers will have the opportunity to explore on their own the Tropical Rain Forest as well as the outdoor habitats. The cost is $30 per person and includes a great variety of photographic opportunities for the entire day!  Get your tickets at the Gate when you arrive.

Join me (Gus and Ida the polar bears, Zoe and Chocolate the snow leopards, our nine snow monkeys and more) at the Central Park Zoos’ Early Morning Photography Event in February.

If you have any questions about these special events contact me at judylobo@gmail.com

Photos taken at the Central Park Zoo are for your personal use only.

Let it snow, let it snow and let it snow (again).  Here are some of the beautiful and scary architectural appointments that adorn some of my neighborhood buildings around the Gramercy Park area in Manhattan.

The lure of freshly fallen snow and seeing three eight month old tiger cubs frolicking was too much for us to ignore.  So we hopped up to the Bronx Zoo yesterday and had a snow-sational time.  Don’t forget to watch the tiger cub video below today’s snow montage. Zootastic!

It was a big and beautiful snowfall on December 27th (as long as you did not have to shovel or drive).  The Central Park Zoo was closed for one day as the hard and hearty zoo workers dug out the zoo environs.  The zoo reopened on the 28th and the animals went wild in the freshly fallen snow.  It was zootastic! Don’t forget to watch two snow videos below today’s montage.
