I love to visit the Oakland Zoo when I am on the West Coast.  It is always fun, the hills give you a great workout and there are always lots of wonderful animals to view and adore. If you want to see the photos larger click here.

Check out the video I made at the Oakland Zoo in 2007.  It has been viewed over 30,000 times.

The Central Park Zoo formally debuts its newest residents (and I think the cutest).  Feast your eyes on the adorable Mountain Coatis named Lobo, Zev and Wolfie.

No – it is not Sunday, do not go back to sleep.  It is Monday but Time Warner has crashed in my area and there is no Internet or TV since Saturday morning.  So, I am positing this away from Casa Lobo.  Our trip to the Bronx Zoo was filled with delightful visions including six tiger cubs, growing lion cubs and the always sensational bear cubs.

Introducing my namesakes, Lobo, Zev and Wolfie, three adorable four month old baby Mountain Coatis, who can now be seen upstairs in the Tropic Zone Building at the Central Park Zoo.  I might be a bit biased, but I think  these  three brothers are the cutest things at the zoo.  Their neighbors, the Banded Mongoose and the Dwarf Mongoose have been checking them out.  There is lots to see at the Central Park Zoo – come visit.  Don’t forget to click on the link below the photos to see my short video of the brothers.

The weather is perfect for a visit to the Central Park Zoo.  The summer crowds have gone and you can enjoy the playful Banded Mongoose, Snow Monkeys, three species of penguins, Black and White Ruffed Lemurs, amazing birds and much more.  Check out these photos to see what I saw while at the zoo.  For larger images go here.

Yes, we drove three hours to see four month old snow leopard cubs and we were not disappointed. The Cape May County Park and Zoo is a delightful facility with over 200 acres of beautiful natural wooded areas and open spaces.  And yes, it was worth our three hour drive to the tip of New Jersey to see the adorable cubs. If you want to see these photos larger go here.

Watch this little clip of Zoe, one of the Central Park Zoo’s snow leopards last winter in the first big snow.

While at the Zoo you can see the Penguins going through their seasonal molt, the snow monkeys as playful as ever and the new dwarf and banded mongoose tearing around their habitats.  All  fun to observe. Come visit.

While at the Prospect Park Zoo we were treated to many wonderful sights.  The two adorable baby boy Hamadryas baboons, born July 23 and 28, were a special treat. Mother’s Kaia and Rebecca were attentive and father Bole seemed very proud.  The zoo is celebrating the arrival of the new baby baboons by partnering with Heart of Brooklyn by offering New Yorkers an opportunity to help name them. Starting Tuesday, Aug. 31, everyone can submit their suggestions at ProspectParkZoo.com.

We also got to meet Dixie, river otter Ogie’s new mate, new Pirahna, Rock Wallaby as well as many other fabulous faces.  If you want to view these photos larger, go here.

Watch the little baboons in all their cuteness here:

We are enduring those dog days of August.  It is hot, sticky and while at the zoo you can easily see both the residents and the visitors catching a big yawn every now and then. And yes, that is my dog Benny, caught in the act of yawning too.  If you want to see these images larger, go here.
