The last colorful gasp of fall is in the air. The Central Park Zoo‘s temperate animals are more active, the crowds are thinner and it is a great time to visit the zoo. Come join us for another in our Photo Series on January 24th from 8:30 to 10:30 as we enjoy Breakfast with the Birds in the warm Tropic Zone. Get details and sign up here.
My zoocation buddy and good friend Mary Schwalm is again offering her amazing 2016 desk calendars. Most of the images are from this year’s Texas zoocation. The calendar makes a great gift for office an swap, holiday party, stocking stuffer, and a unique gift to enjoy throughout the year. Just $10 – for details click here.

The Central Park Zoo has been my home base for the past 25 years. I never tire of the collection of beautiful animals, the landscape, the NYC backdrop, or the variety of visitors, happy faces and delighted children. Today’s montage features just a small sampling of the collection. Imagine if you will, some of these animals surrounded by carved pumpkins, filled with fun enrichment, during my Fall photo workshop on October 25th from 8:30 to 10:30. To register for the fun, sign up here.

Our recent string of glorious, dry, summer weather has brought big crowds of animal lovers to the Central Park Zoo. Come join the fun and bring your camera. There is so much to photograph. Speaking of cameras, the Central Park Zoo’s Education Programs for fall and winter is now available on the zoo’s website. Two photo workshops are being offered. Check them out here under ‘adult programs.‘ Hope to see you there.

It has been almost three months since I dedicated a Sunday montage to my home base, the Central Park Zoo. Mea culpa…it’s good to be home. Come visit!

Yes, it is still chilly in NYC but spring has definitely sprung with magnolias, forsythia, blue bells, hellebores, budding crab apples, cherry blossoms and more. The Central Park Zoo sheep have been sheared, the school groups enjoy the zoo on their outings and in general – it is good to be alive.
We embark on our Texas 2015 Zoocation next week. Looking forward to six new zoos and an aquarium and hopefully meeting new friends along the way.

It feels really good to start to feel the warmth of the spring sun on one’s face. The icy cold of winter is fading and we are all feeling the exuberance of spring. Oh – and yes, that is Benny the Dog in all of his Easter splendor.

The Central Park Zoo’s newest residents, grizzly bears Betty and Veronica, have settled in nicely to their new home. After a long cold winter they have truly begun to enjoy their streams, ponds and pools and can be seen bathing throughout the day. Come visit!

As most of you know, on the first day of spring we got four inches of snow in the Big Apple. I thought it was a good time to share some of the last snowy day zoo photos for awhile (I hope).

I love snow days. We did not get the predicted amount of snow but we got enough to allow the Central Park Zoo animals to really enjoy themselves. (Me too). Here’s a a fun trip down memory lane. Zoe, at three years old, enjoyed her first snow at the Central Park Zoo on December 20, 2009.
