Yesterday was World Penguin Day. I set aside what I was going to post this week to continue to celebrate these charming animals. They surely deserve more than one day of celebration. I was lucky to take the trip of a lifetime in 2005 to Antarctica, the Falklands and South Georgia. It was fun to look at our trip through my old photos. I selected some to share with you today. I hope they bring a smile to your face. Today is day 45 for me being home during COVID19. I continue to try to keep a schedule and to do some constructive things to keep my mind and idle hands busy. I hope you are all safe and staying healthy.

The heat was surely on these last couple of weeks in NYC. It seemed to be a good idea to spend some of my time chilling with the penguins at the Central Park Zoo. Our zoo has four species of penguin – King, Gentoo, Macaroni and Chinstrap. The exhibit is chilly and fun. Come visit and stay cool with our fine feathered friends. Also wanted to give you a heads up about our Central Park Zoo Fall Photo Experience. It is ‘live’ on the WCS website now. The session which will feature pumpkins and is called Zoo Views: Animals in Autumn: Sun, Oct 27, 2019 8:30AM – 10:30AM. It is my favorite photo class and time of the year. Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer are lots of fun at the Central Park Zoo. This week’s assortment of fabulous animals features a very wet snow monkey, Hana, Zoey the snow leopard, Lobo the coati, one of the riot of colors poison dart frog, Biru the red panda, a white-naped crane, a bathing red bird of paradise, mousedeer, Chinstrap penguin and more. That amazing pink color behind the snow monkey photo is the sensational crepe myrtle trees that bloom through the late summer. Come visit!
