The AKC’s Dog Museum has a new exhibit about the amazingly powerful dogs of war. The exhibit runs through July 19, 2022. This exhibit features ten life-sized, carved-wood allegorical memorials by sculptor James Mellick on display from his “Wounded Warrior Dogs” and “Over the Rainbow Bridge” collections, along with the museum’s permanent collection, which includes sculptures, paintings, collars, vests, photographs and more. This exhibit is a heart breaker and definitely makes you think. War is hell. These incredible dogs are heroes.

Sunrises with Jack the Dog August 27, 2017

Having Jack the Dog in my life for the past 13 months has been almost perfect. He is an adorable, sweet, quiet, cat-loving senior pooch. However, he has one major flaw. He gets up at 4:41 AM each day (give or take a few minutes). No matter when we have a night walk he gets up at 4:41. So out we go into the quiet, mostly darkened NYC streets. We try not to wake the homeless people sleeping on the Madison Square Park benches. Our route is the same each morning. In trying to find an upside to this schedule I realized that we catch some amazing sunrises (and moon-sets) during these walks. I have been photographing them with my phone and thought it was time to share some of them with you. Enjoy.

It is hard to believe that it is one year since Jack the Dog came to live with us at Casa Lobo. Other than his waking up time (which is 4:41AM) he is a perfect dog. He is sweet, friendly and gets along with other dogs, kids, neighbors and strangers. Two out of my three cats adore him. The elder cat essentially does not like anyone so it would be more surprising if she liked him. He is featured with some of the many friends who came to meet him this year. Enjoy our Jack-iversary.
