Thanksgiving is all about food, fun, family, friends and giving thanks. I am thankful for the opportunity each day to have incredible, beautiful creatures in my life and to be able to share their specialness through my photos with you. Thank you for looking at my photo montages each week and thank you for your feedback. Benny the dog, Madison the cat, the amazing one year old kittens, Audrey and Roberta and I wish you all a very warm, healthy and safe Thanksgiving.

I interrupt the usual Sunday Zoo photos to bring you photos from the 2014 US Open where I am enjoying a 10 day stint. The action is great, the sun is hot, and it is a fun change of pace. And yes, that’s my dog, Benny, enjoying his US Open tennis ball at home.
For all of those camera enthusiasts out there, I’ll be running a Fall Foliage photography workshop at the Central Park Zoo on October 19 from 8:30 to 10:30. I will arrange some special pumpkin and other activities so you can get great animal shots. Here is a link to last year’s photos from the same event

For the past eight years I have been featuring Benny the dog on our annual holiday card. With the addition of kittens Audrey and Roberta as the newest members of Casa Lobo, I attempted a group photo. Many hats, bow ties and laughs later I present this year’s holiday card and some outtakes from our photo session. Hope you enjoy their antics and wishing everyone a very happy holiday season.

Madison Square Park is the park where Benny, my dog, and I spend lots of time. Benny’s time is spent sniffing and dreaming of catching that elusive squirrel and I daydream, reflect, chat with neighbors, other dog walkers, and strangers. Beginning in 1912, Madison Square Park was home to the first public holiday tree in the nation. Madison Square Park was home to the torch of the Statue of Liberty for six years to raise funds for the completion of the statue and its pedestal. There is also a suggestion that the southwest corner of Madison Square Park is where America’s pastime, baseball, got its mid-19th century start.game.. Whatever the history – enjoy today’s reflections.

Meet my two new kittens – Audrey and Roberta. They are seven weeks old and have been exploring every nook and cranny in my home. They are curious about Benny the dog (he seems to like them a lot) and rightfully cautious about Madison the cat. They are endlessly entertaining. Enjoy!

The action is great, the sun is hot, the rain delays are brutal, but it is a chance for me to watch other mammals strut their stuff. Oh, and yes – that is my dog Benny – prominently featured above today’s photo montage.

Today is eight years since I adopted my dog, Benny. I know, I know – you are most likely saying to yourselves ‘only eight years?’ Yes, it is true that I have taken and shared hundreds of photos of my little guy so it seems as if he has been around much longer – but it is only eight years.
Those of you that have met him know that he is special. Other than that I am not sure how old he is or what he is – we think he is a combination chihuahua/pug/terrier/bat/truffle pig and a few other things thrown into his DNA. He barks when the phone rings thinking it is someone at the door. He has too many toys (my fault) and gets too many treats (mea culpa as well). He knows everyone on the block and his presence has allowed me to meet tons of other people in the ‘hood’. He loves to go shopping at Staples, Barnes & Noble and Bed Bath & Beyond with me and has met many new friends in those stores too.
There is something about the little guy that makes people smile – and that’s a good thing. Nary a day goes by that someone does not stop me and ask ‘What kind of dog is that’? My usual response is ‘He is something special’.
