This wraps up 17 years of my sending out these Sunday (mostly zoo) montages. By my calculations that’s about 850 photo montages. Oh my! Thanks for coming along for the ride. I think some of you have been with me for the entire 17 years. I am thankful for that. I am not going to harp on what a crappy year this has been – no need to go over what we all have experienced. This was the first year since 2005 that we have not gone on any zoocations. We had one planned for March – but then everything came to a halt. I am hopeful that within six months our lives will somewhat return to normal and zoocations will commence once again. That said – I leave you as always with no ‘ifs, just ends and butts’.Brooklyn Bound October 18, 2020

After eight long months of being on the island of Manhattan I took the Q train and ventured to Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Zoo this week. As most of you know, the Prospect Park Zoo was the zoo of my youth and I have a special place for it in my heart. It was a fun, productive visit and it was great to see the friendly faces of the staff and of course to revisit their wonderful collection of animals. Enjoy this week’s salute to Brooklyn and please wear a mask, socially distance, wash your hands and be safe.

Today is day 200 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. It has been a challenging 6.5 months but the good news is I am returning to my photography job at the Central Park Zoo on Tuesday. Hopefully next Sunday’s montage will be fresh images of the fabulous animal collection at CPZ. Today’s montage is the final installment of salutes to children’s games. The jumping jack is a toy whose origins date back thousands of years. The jointed jumping jack figure is a cross between a puppet and paper doll. The figures are generally made from wood and their limbs are jointed and tied to a pull string. When the string is pulled and released, the arms and legs move up and down. Stay healthy and wear a mask please.

This is day 184 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. I needed some extra smiles this week so I decided to salute all of the adorable lion, tiger and bears cubs we have seen on our many zoo visits over the years. Hope they bring some smiles to your faces too. Stay safe, wear a mask and social distance please.

It is day 177 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. I continue my theme of cbhildren’s games with one that we used to play on the streets of old Brooklyn when we were kids. My sister and I could not remember our rules but we know for sure – that we played it. Monkey in the Middle, Piggy in the Middle, Pickle in a Dish, Keep Away or Pickle in the Middle, is a children’s game in which two or more players must pass a ball to one another, while a player in the middle attempts to intercept it. Yes, I have stretched the ‘monkey’ theme to include prosimians because – well, I liked the photos. Stay safe, avoid crowds and wear a mask this holiday weekend.

Even though this is day 170 for me being home during COVID19 birthday celebrations must and should go on. Today is seven years since Audrey and Roberta came to live at Casa Lobo. They experienced different house mates over the years starting with Madison the Grumpy Cat and Benny the dog. Then came Jack the one-eyed dog, then Pete the cat and now of course, Mr Pepe the dog. They have gotten along with all and have brought great joy into my house. Here’s to many more years of fun with these two cats. They have their own facebook page with over 900 fans. This is day 109 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. Still hoping that you are all staying safe and wearing your masks. My goal each week during the pandemic is to give you a few smiles. Nothing makes me smile more than otters. They are active, fun and most of all – adorable. This week’s selection of photos come from my previous visits to the Prospect Park Zoo, Bronx Zoo, Potawatomi Zoo, Smithsonian’s National Zoo, Capron Park Zoo and the Woodland Park zoo. The animals featured are river otters and small-clawed otters. Hope they give you a little cheer. Stay healthy please.

This is day 102 for me being home during the COVID19 pandemic. Tomorrow NYC enters phase 2. Woot, woot! Outdoor dining, indoor shopping, haircuts and playgrounds reopen. Not sure I will be doing any of those – but we shall see. I do hope you have been staying healthy, safe and wearing your masks. Not only is today Father’s Day but it is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. While most caregivers in the animal kingdom are mothers, there are some father’s who join in the role as caregiver. I salute all of those father’s out there in today’s photo montage. The photo above today’s salute is of my father and me. The photo was taken (circa) at the beginning of time.

This is day 74 of my staying home during the COVID19 pandemic. Trying to keep healthy, upbeat and busy is a daily challenge. Looking at baby animal photos always makes me smile so I share with you today some of the adorable ducklings and goslings that were born and raised at my home base, the Central Park Zoo over the past few years. Hope they put a smile on your face too.I had the honor and joy of documenting these delightful little ones. Since some of you will ask, here are the names of the species featured today. Ducklings: Baers Pochard, Falcated, Pink-eared, Long-Tailed, Marbled Teal, Pacific Common eider, Red-breatsed Merganser, Smew, Harlequin, Ruddy, Garganey, Scaly-sided, Argentine Ruddy, Black, Barrows and Mandarin. Goslings: Swan and Emperor Goose. To my bird nerd friends out there – I might have missed naming a few. Mea culpa in advance. Stay healthy please.

As predicted, when I posted March comes in like a lion you just knew I would also post that March goes out like a lamb. I do hope that all of you are healthy and following the social distancing guidelines. It is day 16 for me at home and I am whittling down my ‘to do’ list. Think I either have to slow down or start to make another list. Enjoy some of these sweet lambs in today’s photo montage. All of these photos were taken at my home base, the Central Park Zoo. Sorry to say they have all grown up now but I remember them as they were – so very cute.
