There are few things as much fun as watching zoo animals step foot on newly fallen snow. We were at the Central Park Zoo the Monday after the big blizzard to witness this joy. Our Breakfast with the Birds class that was scheduled for Blizzard Sunday has been rescheduled for next Sunday, Feb 7th from 8:30 to 10:30. There are a few slots still available. Come join the fun. I love all cats – small, medium and large. This week’s montage is devoted to these gorgeous creatures. Did you know there are 37 species of cat? Down near the bottom of today’s montage you will see my three cats (yes, three) – Madison, the elder cat and sisters Audrey and Roberta who are now two. Want to see them as kittens? Meow.

The Central Park Zoo has been my home base for the past 25 years. I never tire of the collection of beautiful animals, the landscape, the NYC backdrop, or the variety of visitors, happy faces and delighted children. Today’s montage features just a small sampling of the collection. Imagine if you will, some of these animals surrounded by carved pumpkins, filled with fun enrichment, during my Fall photo workshop on October 25th from 8:30 to 10:30. Our recent string of glorious, dry, summer weather has brought big crowds of animal lovers to the Central Park Zoo. Come join the fun and bring your camera. There is so much to photograph. Speaking of cameras, the Central Park Zoo’s Education Programs for fall and winter is now available on the zoo’s website. Two photo workshops are being offered. Check them out here under ‘adult programs.‘ Hope to see you there.

Yes, it is still chilly in NYC but spring has definitely sprung with magnolias, forsythia, blue bells, hellebores, budding crab apples, cherry blossoms and more. The Central Park Zoo sheep have been sheared, the school groups enjoy the zoo on their outings and in general – it is good to be alive.
We embark on our Texas 2015 Zoocation next week. Looking forward to six new zoos and an aquarium and hopefully meeting new friends along the way.
