Wildlife photography is great fun – especially when you get amusing photos that cry out for captions. Here are some photos for you to enjoy and caption. Feel free to share your wit with the rest of us on my website comments space.
For all of those camera enthusiasts out there, I’ll be running a Fall Foliage photography workshop at the Central Park Zoo on October 19 from 8:30 to 10:30. I will arrange some special pumpkin and other activities so you can get great animal shots. Here is a link to last year’s photos from this event. Pumpkintastic!

Zoo visitors love to watch the animals eat. Why? Maybe it is a shared connection or a chance to watch them doing what every sentient creature on earth does. Whether the animal is an omnivore, herbivore or carnivore we like to watch them eat. All of today’s photos were taken at the Central Park Zoo. If you have not seen this hilarious video about animals eating – check it out here:

‘Tis better to give than to receive. It is a great adage and we saw it first hand when some of the animals at the Central Park Zoo got surprise food treats this week disguised in festive holiday casing. Check out our snow leopard, snow monkeys, red pandas, Southern coatis, saki monkeys, black and white ruffed lemurs, banded mongoose, muntjac and cotton top tamarins being enriched by our gifts.
The handsome dog above is of course Benny, my oft photographed pooch. A very Happy Holiday season to all of you from the gang at Casa Lobo.

Enjoy this video I took on December 20th, 2009 when we had a foot of snow fall in the City. Along with the snow our then three year old snow leopard got a holiday gift to play with all day.

Zoo #6 on our zoocation was an unplanned visit. Since we had the time and energy we crossed the Canadian/US border for the first of four times on our way to the Safari Niagara Zoo in Stevensville, Ontario. It was hot and there was way too much cyclone fencing but it was a fun visit with an active hippo. My zoo buddy adores hippos.

June is busting out all over the Central Park Zoo. There’s so much to enjoy when you plan a day at the zoo. Along with our fabulous collection of penguins, puffins, sea ducks, black and white ruffed lemurs, red pandas and of course, Gus, our polar bear we now have a collection of bugs!

Brooklyn’s Prospect Park Zoo director Denise McClean introduces us to two pairs of dingoes now making their debut: Alkira and Binda, and Dacu and Cobar. Naturally, these four dogs, who hail from Down Under, have been given Aboriginal names. If you subscribe to my weekly Sunday photos (and get them in your in-box) you are probably not able to view my videos from your inbox image. The Prospect Park Zoo’s four dingoes will only steal your heart – not your baby. Much has been made of the famous line “The dingo ate my baby” from the 1988 movie a ‘Cry in the Dark‘ starring Meryl Streep:
Paradies of this famous line are plentiful including this one from a Seinfeld episode:

While in New England to attend my zoo-cation friend’s wedding last weekend, in addition to the festivities, we, of course, had to make time to go to the Stone Zoo to see their adorable baby gibbon, active wolves and new colobus monkey troop.
