We did not get much snow earlier this week but we got enough for some fun snow photos of the zoo residents (especially the snow leopard twins) enjoying their first snow of the season. My own kittens, Audrey and Roberta, enjoyed watching their first snowfall too. Check out the video below today’s photo montage.

We headed to Brooklyn to see all of the zoo babies now at the Prospect Park Zoo. A terrific, fun visit included their five month old Red Panda cub twins, Geoffrey Marmoset twins, baby baboons and a young sea lion pup. Speaking of babies, below today’s montage you can see photos of my two adorable 2.5 month old kittens. If you are on facebook, you can ‘like’ their page (Audrey and Roberta). It is fun, you get a photo a day and they have a fast growing list of fans.

Rounding out a leaf-tastic fun visit to New England with my zoo-cation buddy, Mary Schwalm, was a visit to the Southwick’s Zoo in Mendon MA. This autumn visit proved to be the best one ever. An abundance of color combined with having the zoo almost all to ourselves made for a fine mini-zoocation.

My zoocation buddy, Mary Schwalm, was down for a quick visit so we took the opportunity to drive south to the Cape May County Zoo (a first for her and a second visit for me). The lure of two four month old snow leopard cubs was the driving force for our three hour drive. It was well worth the drive and it gave us many hours to catch up on things. It was a beautiful day and the cubs were adorable.

This week the Central Park Zoo introduced a pair of Titi Monkeys who can be seen upstairs in the tropic zone’s mezzanine. While you are up there do not miss the adorable, very active six baby Banded Mongooses (and their big brother). If you get too warm, cool off in the chilly Penguin House where you can find four species of penguin – Chinstrap, Gentoo, Rockhopper and King. Come visit – it’s fun!

It has been a couple of months of Sundays (and occasional Wednesdays) since I have featured my home base, the Central Park Zoo. There’s lots going on at NYC’s little gem of a zoo. We have three Swan Goose goslings, young Patagonian Cavy twins, baby Banded Mongooses and a young Victorian Crowned Pigeon. The usual cast of other wonderful animals includes Gus the polar bear, three acrobatic sea lions, April, Katy and Edith and the largest sea duck collection in a zoo in North America. Come visit – There’s no place like home!

Zoocation 2013 ended with a bang at zoo #6 – the all encompassing, totally terrific, St. Louis Zoo. We did not have any special access at this facility but still managed to spend seven hours wandering around enjoying every minute. The zoo is beautiful, well tended, exciting, with great sight lines for both photographers and casual visitors alike. There is no doubt we will be back again. A special shout out to my college roommate Michelle and her husband Allen for being such great hosts while we were in this very special city. We have already started to plan Zoocation 2013 – Part two, for the fall.

Zoo #4 on zoocation 2013 was the enormous Kansas City Zoo. A special shout out to Tim Steinmetz , KC Zoo’s Animal Curator for giving us such a warm welcome upon our arrival. His tips helped us to navigate and save some steps. The zoo has almost every species you might expect and their soon to open state of the art penguin exhibit cries out for a return visit.
