In October of 2001 the superintendent of my building called me up and asked if I wanted a cat. It seems that a kitten had walked into the lobby of my building and just sat down. I rushed downstairs and found a little bundle of fur. And that was that. Fast forward almost 17 years and Madison crossed that very crowded rainbow bridge this week. Truth be told, she was not a very nice cat. That was part of her charm. She harrumphed around the apartment, hissed at her roommates and generally had a bad attitude. All of those aforementioned things made me love her even more. When she came to live with us I had two other cats, whom she learned to hate. A few years later Benny the dog came to live with us. She was not fond of him either. She outlived those animals and then got to share her space with kitten sisters Audrey and Roberta and eventually Jack the one-eyed dog. She did not like any of them either. Do I miss this grumpy cat? You bet.

Thanksgiving is all about food, fun, family, friends and giving thanks. I am thankful for the opportunity each day to have incredible, beautiful creatures in my life and to be able to share their uniqueness through my photos. Thank you for looking at my photo montage each week and thank you for your feedback. Madison the elder cat, the amazing two year old kittens, Audrey and Roberta and I wish you all a very warm, healthy and safe Thanksgiving. This is the first Thanksgiving in 10 years without our adorable Benny the dog . I give thanks for those 10 years that we had with him.

I love all cats – small, medium and large. This week’s montage is devoted to these gorgeous creatures. Did you know there are 37 species of cat? Down near the bottom of today’s montage you will see my three cats (yes, three) – Madison, the elder cat and sisters Audrey and Roberta who are now two. Want to see them as kittens? Meow.

For the past eight years I have been featuring Benny the dog on our annual holiday card. With the addition of kittens Audrey and Roberta as the newest members of Casa Lobo, I attempted a group photo. Meet my two new kittens – Audrey and Roberta. They are seven weeks old and have been exploring every nook and cranny in my home. They are curious about Benny the dog (he seems to like them a lot) and rightfully cautious about Madison the cat. They are endlessly entertaining. Enjoy!
