There are few things as much fun as watching zoo animals step foot on newly fallen snow. We were at the Central Park Zoo the Monday after the big blizzard to witness this joy. Our Breakfast with the Birds class that was scheduled for Blizzard Sunday has been rescheduled for next Sunday, Feb 7th from 8:30 to 10:30. There are a few slots still available. Come join the fun. The NYC blizzard kept most of us close to home. Here are a few wintry photos from my neighborhood outing yesterday. I especially missed Benny the dog – he loved the snow. Sigh. The citywide travel ban is in effect until 7am. It is eerily quiet out there except for an occasional snowplow. Our zoos are closed for a second day. Guess I’ll stay home with my own little feline zoo.

If you find yourself near Santa Rosa, CA take the time to visit the enjoyable Charles Schulz Museum and Research Center. There is something here for everyone. I especially liked to see the introduction and evolution of each Peanuts character from the 1950’s thru the 1980’s. There’s videos, cartoons, a bit of history and even a large room where you can create your own cartoons. I thought my favorite character was Lucy but after visiting this great place I am forever in love with Snoopy. FUN!

For the third year in a row we find ourselves on the West Coast at the wonderful San Francisco Zoo. This zoo holds a special place for my California family and me. A loud shout out to Dom Dorsa, Curator of Birds and Reptiles for his generosity, spirit and time. You made our visit very special. We will be back.

For the past 10 years I have been featuring Benny the dog on our annual holiday card. As most of you know, Benny crossed that rainbow bridge two months ago. As a farewell tribute to my little guy I decided to feature him one last time. After pouring through hundreds of photos of him I chose one as I like to remember him best – happy, healthy and living the good life. Enjoy some of the other cards that highlighted Benny’s good nature through the years. He was a very good boy. Carpe diem and Happy Holidays to one and all.

Another amazing visit to the Toledo Zoo to see good friends and have mini-reunions. Got to see my first Tasmanian Devil, their adorable baby orangutan, juvenile yaks and reindeer, young camels, hungry sloths, got to touch an octopus and see their beautiful display of holiday lights. Sheer delight was had by being able to hold their young Eurasian Eagle Owl, named Loup, on my arm. Very, very cool. Thanks everyone – I’ll be back.

Thanksgiving is all about food, fun, family, friends and giving thanks. I am thankful for the opportunity each day to have incredible, beautiful creatures in my life and to be able to share their uniqueness through my photos. Thank you for looking at my photo montage each week and thank you for your feedback. Madison the elder cat, the amazing two year old kittens, Audrey and Roberta and I wish you all a very warm, healthy and safe Thanksgiving. This is the first Thanksgiving in 10 years without our adorable Benny the dog . I give thanks for those 10 years that we had with him.
