Those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer bring on those summer time yawns. Catching and then photographing one of the Central Park Zoo animals mid-yawn is always fun. Oh, there is one beautiful face that does not belong today – can you find him?

My mother, Lillian Wolfe, is long gone, but her advice, warnings and general ‘Lili-isms’ live on in my daily life. She taught me to fight the good fight and to write letters to City Hall when I was pissed. She also gave me my moral compass – one glance from Lillian told me instantly whether my behavior was acceptable or not – and I got a lot of glances. My sister Terry and I remember many childhood events differently but we both agree that our mother was a pistol. Here’s to Lillian Wolfe and all of the other mothers, caregivers, nurturers, pamperers, surrogates and loving coddlers out there. You make it all work. And a huge salute to all of the Zoo mothers in today’s photo montage.
Zoocation 2013 has come to an end. It was a zoo-sastional. Stay tuned to see six new montages from our latest zoo-venture.

Rarely a holiday goes by (whether we celebrate it or not here at Casa Lobo) that doesn’t cry out for a new hat that Benny the dog can wear. Enjoy this year’s Easter Benny..
Spring has sprung at the Central Park Zoo. The flowers are waking up after a long winter, and our animals are more active than ever. Come visit us.
Our Breakfast with the Birds class (April 28th) is sold out but there are a few spaces left in our Family Program, Images in Spring (Sunday, April 14th from 9 to 10:30). This family program is designed for parents and kids to share a photo adventure before the zoo opens. Click here for details and to sign up.

Friday’s storm (aka Nemo) hit the Big Apple with a gentle touch. Nothing could keep me from getting some post-storm shots at the Central Park Zoo. Enjoy the snow loving animals and please watch my friend and zoocation buddy, Mary Schwalm’s time lapse video of little Barbie getting creamed by a heavy hitting Nemo in her backyard in North Andover MA. We have been experiencing some bitter cold temperatures in the Big Apple this week and we finally got something pretty out of all of that shivering. A light coating of snow fell Friday night and I was inspired to photograph some of the beautiful animals at the Central Park Zoo enjoying this winter’s First taste of Snow.

‘Tis better to give than to receive. It is a great adage and we saw it first hand when some of the animals at the Central Park Zoo got surprise food treats this week disguised in festive holiday casing. Check out our snow leopard, snow monkeys, red pandas, Southern coatis, saki monkeys, black and white ruffed lemurs, banded mongoose, muntjac and cotton top tamarins being enriched by our gifts.
The handsome dog above is of course Benny, my oft photographed pooch. A very Happy Holiday season to all of you from the gang at Casa Lobo.

Enjoy this video I took on December 20th, 2009 when we had a foot of snow fall in the City. Along with the snow our then three year old snow leopard got a holiday gift to play with all day.

The day before Hurricane Sandy hit New York City we innocently enjoyed some pumpkin enrichment fun with many of the beautiful animals at the Central Park Zoo. Hope these photos make you smile as much as I did while taking the shots. There are still a few spaces left in my Fall Photo Workshop next Sunday, November 11th from 9 to 11 AM. Guaranteed fun. Click here and sign up.
That’s my dog Benny (above) showing off his Halloween costume. Sadly, Halloween was cancelled in the City but Benny got to wear his costume around Casa Lobo and get many treats.

Introducing my namesakes, Lobo, Zev and Wolfie, three adorable four month old baby Mountain Coatis, who can now be seen upstairs in the Tropic Zone Building at the Central Park Zoo. I might be a bit biased, but I think these three brothers are the cutest things at the zoo. Their neighbors, the Banded Mongoose and the Dwarf Mongoose have been checking them out. There is lots to see at the Central Park Zoo – come visit. Don’t forget to click on the link below the photos to see my short video of the brothers.
