While in New England to attend a dear friend’s wedding this weekend, in addition to the festivities, we, of course, had to make time to go to the Franklin Park Zoo to see their sweet 18 month old baby gorilla and meet their adorable 18 day old baby ring-tailed lemur. Nebuchadrezzer, gave birth on March 19 inside Franklin Park Zoo’s Tropical Forest. Franklin Park Zoo has eight lemurs, including the new baby.  (If you subscribe to my weekly photos (and get them in your in-box) you are probably not able to view my videos from your inbox image.  Just scroll up and click on the Blue link (which is the name of today’s send) and it will take you back to my ‘While at the Zoo’ website where you can watch the video selection.)

Spring at the Central Park Zoo is terrific. Come visit us and meet our four new Rockhopper Penguins, who join the other three species, the Gentoo, Chinstrap and King penguins. We also have an adorable baby lamb and a beautiful new goat. Our large waterfowl collection all look beautiful and are fun to watch as they display to one another.  There’s also lots of nest building to watch in the Tropical Aviary.

If you like my photos and enjoy taking pictures yourself, why not come to the zoo for one of my photo workshops this spring? There are still a few spots left in each workshop. The three workshops  are highlighted below. You can read all about them and sign up on line here.

– On April14th (8:30 to 11:30) we are repeating our popular Breakfast With the Birds adult class where you will have the chance to hear all about our amazing collection and then are able to photograph the birds during morning census.  The class finishes up at the Apple store for a fabulous editing tutorial from the techies at Apple.

– We also have a family program scheduled for Earth Day (Sunday, April 22nd from 10:00 to 11:30) and is geared to adults and kids (ages 6 to 18). Share the joy of wildlife and photography with the family. It will be fun and you can take the memories home through your photos.

– And finally, a new workshop called Urban Birds of Prey on Sunday May 20th (9:00 to 11:00) where you will meet some of our raptor ambassadors up-close and personal. This will afford you great opportunities to photograph and learn about these beautiful birds. Looking forward to seeing some of you soon at the Zoo.

While at the Central Park Zoo do not forget to go upstairs in the Tropic Zone. It is a happening spot.  Along with the always delightful Mountain Coatis (Lobo, Zev and Wolfie) you can also see African Banded and Dwarf Mongoose with four babies in each exhibit.  Come quickly – they re growing rapidly.  Also catch our new Saki Monkeys who reside with two Silvery Marmosets. Don’t forget to catch the magnificent Eurasian Eagle Owl too.  If you want to see these photos larger go to here.

Introducing my namesakes, Lobo, Zev and Wolfie, three adorable four month old baby Mountain Coatis, who can now be seen upstairs in the Tropic Zone Building at the Central Park Zoo.  I might be a bit biased, but I think  these  three brothers are the cutest things at the zoo.  Their neighbors, the Banded Mongoose and the Dwarf Mongoose have been checking them out.  There is lots to see at the Central Park Zoo – come visit.  Don’t forget to click on the link below the photos to see my short video of the brothers.
